East Bay Sanitary has served the City of El Cerrito since 1940. We understand that our 80-year history is a direct result of the quality of service that we provide. Because of this, customer service is our top priority. We constantly strive to treat every El Cerrito resident and commercial customer professionally and respectfully.
Staff members are trained to provide the best customer service possible and are empowered to make decisions that will ensure the best experience for each customer.
Proudly, our staff answers every phone call during regular business hours. You will never be directed to “Press 1”. Unfortunately call volume occasionally exceeds staffing. At such times we will assist customers on a first come, first served basis to the extent possible without infringing on the service needs of other customers. Our Staff also quickly respond to email inquiries, responding as quickly as possible and within one Work Day.
We recognize that we may not always be able to resolve your issue to your satisfaction and apologize in advance for this. If one of our staff members is ever discourteous or unable to resolve an issue, customers are encouraged to address their issue with our Company President directly. Simply request to speak directly with him. If unavailable at the time, he will respond as soon as he is available.

The only holidays resulting in collection interruption are Christmas Day and New Year’s Day for both East Sanitary and the City of El Cerrito Recycling. During those weeks, if your collection day falls on or after the holiday, you will be picked up one day late.
Our office is closed on the following holidays:
New Year’s Day – January 1 (also a non service day)
President’s Day – the third Monday in February each year
Memorial Day – the last Monday of May each year
Independence Day – July 4
Labor Day – the first Monday in September each year
Thanksgiving Day – the fourth Thursday of November each year
The day after Thanksgiving – the fourth Friday of November each year
Christmas Eve – December 24
Christmas Day – December 25 (also a non service day)

East Bay Sanitary customers are billed quarterly in advance on the 1st of Jan, May and Sept. Bills are payable upon receipt and become past due on the 1st day of the 4th month of the billing period. Service is subject to discontinuance at that time. Accounts stopped due to non-payment will be assessed a $25.00 fee. There is no credit issued for accounts stopped for non-payment. Returned checks will be charged a $30.00 fee per check.
East Bay Sanitary offers our customers a variety of convenient bill pay options: cash, check, money order, or credit card. If you have questions about your bill, please call and ask to speak with someone in the billing department 510.237.4321, 7:30 am – 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Rates include one (1) 20, 35 or 64-gallon cart for garbage (landfill), one (1) 64-gallon cart for recyclables, and one (1) 64-gallon cart for green waste/food scraps.
